Top Things to do in Cabo San Lucas

After taking our first trip to Cabo San Lucas in 2020, it quickly became our favorite destination in Mexico! It’s the perfect beach getaway in Mexico’s Baja California Sur.

We’ve heard people say “there’s nothing to do in Cabo” many times and that is simply not true! All it takes is getting out of your typical all-inclusive resort and really exploring what this country has to offer. If you’re a nature lover like us, this is a place you’ll want to add to your Mexico bucket list!

Walk Around the Marina

The marina is where we spend most of our time in Cabo. It’s right in the middle of town so you’re able to easily walk between the two without a taxi or an Uber (yes there is Uber in Cabo, and its cheap!) It’s full of restaurants, shops, boat tours, and even a shopping mall!

This is the perfect spot to hop on a trip for snorkeling, whale watching, deep sea fishing, and sunset cruises!

Tip: If you’re a seafood lover, you can buy fresh fish right of the boats as they come in to dock!

Take a Sunset Cruise

Cabo seriously has some of the best sunsets that we’ve ever seen. They’re even better when watching from a boat in the Pacific Ocean. This was one of our favorite things we did and will continue to do every time we go back. If you’re lucky and its the right season, you may be surprised with a show by some humpback whales! They migrate through the region every year from December to April!

There’s an endless amount of sunset cruises in Cabo but we would personally recommend booking with Eco Cat!

Take a bout tour to Lands End (El Arco)

The most well known spot in Cabo is the arch formation at the end of the cove. Depending on the water levels at the time, it is typically only visible by boat or jet ski. Boat tours to the arch leave hourly from the marina and the resorts on Medano Beach. If you’re staying on Solmar Beach, you’ll have to catch a boat from the marina since the ocean current is too strong here for boats to reach the beach.

The boat will typically also take you around Pelican Rock where you can feed the pelicans and schools of tropical fish! This is also a hot spot for sea lions to bask in the sun and will sometimes swim up to the boat!

Visit Lover’s Beach & Divorce Beach

The best beaches in Cabo! They are (kinda) only accessible by boat. Most people will tell you that you have to take a boat from your resort or the marina to get to Lover’s beach. If you’re staying on Solmar Beach and want to take an adventurous route, you can hike over the bottom of Mount Solmar and it’ll lead you right to Divorce Beach! The resort staff will tell you not to do it, but you definitely can!

Not every beach in Cabo is swimmable due to the currents of the Pacific Ocean. Lover’s beach is our favorite swimmable beach option and just a quick walk over to Divorce Beach which is sadly not swimmable but has some great views if you’re up for a small hike!

Both of these beaches get pretty crowded during the day so we recommend getting here as early as possible if you want a chance of having the place to yourself!

Hiking Mount Solmar

The best view in all of Cabo!! Mount Solmar is a 2 mile hike and the trail is only open to guided tours that leave twice daily. Once at 8 AM and once at 4 PM. The meeting spot for the trail is about 10 minutes from downtown Cabo. The hike is free but don’t go if you don’t plan to tip your guide.

From the top of Mount Solmar you’ll have views of Downtown Cabo, the marina, Lovers/Divorce Beach, Solmar Beach, and of course the Pacific Ocean!

If you’re looking for a more adventurous vacation, this needs to be on your list.

There’s so much to do in Cabo that we haven’t even gotten to experience yet for ourselves. If there’s extra time on your trip, make your way to Todos Santos or San Jose Del Cabo to escape the tourist crowds you’ll find in Cabo!
